Nevet

Nevet is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing educational opportunities for children and adolescents from disadvantaged communities by ensuring nutritional security during the school day. The organization seeks to address a pressing need identified in schools, particularly in Israel’s social and geographic periphery: tens of thousands of students who arrive at school each day hungry and without food. This is due to either neglect and dysfunction of their families or because of economic disadvantage. Students deprived of proper nutrition are unable to focus on their studies, often experience higher dropout rates, and face disciplinary challenges. Consequently, they are denied the opportunity to receive an education, develop adequately, and realize their full potential, as other children their age can do. For a school to fulfill its educational mandate and provide equitable opportunities for every child, the most fundamental needs of its students must be met promptly and effectively. Hence, Nevet launched the "Sandwich for Every Child" initiative, through which the organization provides healthy and nutritious breakfast meals daily, consisting of a wholesome sandwich, fresh fruit, and vegetables, to thousands of children across Israel. The project operates nationwide, serving all sectors of society, and delivers nourishing breakfasts to approximately 17,000 children daily across 380 schools in more than 130 municipalities. The sandwiches are distributed to students identified by the school in a discreet, respectful and dignified manner.
