"In the most innocent place in the world, a music festival, I lost my eldest son. But I have not lost hope."
(Ayelet Samerano)
Yonatan Samerano was an extraordinary 21-year-old. A creator, painter, and musician who lived life to his own beat. On October 7th, he was murdered, and his body was abducted to Gaza in an UNRWA vehicle, by an UNRWA employee.
His mother, Ayelet, has chosen to step forward and expose the truth to the world, transforming her unbearable pain into a living, breathing legacy that honors everything Yonatan left behind.
The project in Yonatan's memory is built upon four pillars:
- A documentary film following Ayelet's journey across the globe to reveal the truth about UNRWA, culminating in the opening of Yonatan's exhibition.
- An exhibition showcasing Yonatan's paintings and music, which will travel across Israel and the world.
- A memoir written by his mother and his brother, Yair, about finding laughter through tears and discovering resilience after devastating loss.
- A song and music video based on raw musical recordings Yonatan left behind on his computer.
We are in a race against time to bring these projects to life by the anniversary of Yonatan's passing (October 7th, 2026).
All funds raised will directly cover production costs: film production, curating and mounting the exhibition in Israel and worldwide, publishing and global distribution of the book, and professional studio music production.
