Bait al Hayam

We combine the power of the sea and the community to empower and heal people affected by war, children who have returned from captivity, families torn from their homes, at-risk youth, and individuals with special needs. The war impacts tens of thousands, both physically and mentally, and the need to process and rebuild the resilience of our communities through the Safe Haven program is more crucial than ever. Our programs: In the midst of an exciting and turbulent space, the sea, we create a home – an inclusive and equal space that allows people to undergo a process of healing, development, and personal growth. Together with them, we experience moments of strength and healing, building lifelong, family-like communities of equals with and for them. Safe Haven – In the shadow of the war, we developed the Safe Haven program, which addresses trauma through marine activities. We established an emergency center in Eilat, providing significant assistance to 2,000 children, teens, and adults. To continue supporting our communities and more families from the south, ensuring long-term processes for the coming years, we established a marine resilience center in Ashkelon. Through Safe Haven, we strengthen participants' feelings of balance, control, and certainty, offering them a safe space to relax, recharge, and reinforce their resilience as individuals and as a community. Families by the Sea – We believe in collaborative family work, connecting all family members, with the understanding that to strengthen the individual, we must also support and empower their closest surroundings. The community allows siblings and parents, facing similar challenges and complexities, to find a group of equals within a supportive, fun, and empowering community. Navigators – A leadership sailing program where participants are introduced to the worlds of sailing and surfing, learning theoretical tools and gaining hands-on experience with various types of vessels. Through an in-depth process, participants learn to understand themselves and their group members, strengthen teamwork and cooperation skills, and acquire a toolkit for coping with life-shaping experiences and challenges.
