Bema'ale Haderech

The Road Ahead is an Israeli nonprofit that develops a new generation of young leaders in Israel, deepening Jewish-Israeli identity, civic responsibility, and personal resilience through educational frameworks that combine learning, community action, and leadership, in partnership with local communities and regional stakeholders.

Nir Oz Leadership Academy is a pre-military leadership academy in the heart of Kibbutz Nir Oz, established to take an active part in the kibbutz’s renewal. A cohort of young women and men from across Israel live, learn, and act there alongside the Nir Oz community. Over the course of the year they undergo a deep process of personal and group growth, deepen their Israeli-Jewish identity, develop a sense of community responsibility, and prepare for meaningful military service, while actively contributing to the rebuilding of the kibbutz and the surrounding region.

In addition to the Nir Oz Academy, the organization operates The Road Ahead Youth Leadership Program, which runs in the Gaza Envelope and across Israel, accompanying high school students in grades 10–12 in a long-term leadership track. Participants meet regularly, take part in seminars and field days, initiate community projects, and receive personal mentoring, with the aim of building resilience, a strong sense of agency, and commitment to the future of Israeli society.
